Blog Stats after 1 Month as a New Blogger! – January 2021

Last Updated on 29 Apr, 2021

May I present my (very humble) blog stats after 1 month as a new blogger! I can’t believe I’ve been blogging at Plants and Good Vibes for just over 1 month now. My first ever blog post was A Warm Introduction to Plants and Good Vibes! on 19th December 2020, and in total I’ve now published 8 blog posts, mainly about veganism and Veganuary. For 2021, I’d LOVE to grow my blog, and so I thought I would start a monthly series of reflecting on my progress each month and seeing how I can improve.

Overall

Before we get into looking at the actual blog stats, this month I’m proud of posting consistently 1-2 times a week, and for joining the blogging community! I’m loving blogging, and I’m really enjoying discovering new blogs and reading posts and leaving comments. Equally, I’m thrilled to see people commenting on my small blog and saying hi over on Instagram, so I feel very welcomed.

Blog Stats

I used Google Analytics for all of these stats. Between the 1st of January 2021 and the 29th January 2021, I had 363 pageviews which for me is HUGE. Especially as in December I only had 44! Similarly, I had 189 individual sessions (a.k.a visitors) this past month, and seeing as I had only 23 in December that’s a big improvement:

Average session duration is 2 minutes and 29 seconds, and at this point I’m not sure if that’s good or bad, but I’d love to improve that. I guess the best way is to make more content.

Social Media

My Instagram already existed before the blog, and has 316 followers which I’m happy with. I’d obviously like to grow my Instagram, but to be honest I don’t put as much time and effort into it like I do this blog, so it will probably be slow growth. Regardless, I enjoy all the amazing vegan food I discover on Instagram all of the time haha.

My Pinterest is an area I REALLY want to improve in! I have 3 followers (hah!) and only 290 impressions during January, but seeing as I had only 9 impressions in December this is another area where the stats improved. I need to learn about how to use Pinterest and create or invest in some Pinterest templates I think, so I can start creating more than 1 pinterest pin per blog post.

Income

In terms of income, the only thing I have at the moment are affiliate links, and I don’t have that many yet across my few blog posts. Unsurprisingly, this brings me to a total of £0 for my first month blogging! I’m not worried about this, as I know it’s such early days.

My income goal for my first year of blogging is to make £100 – it doesn’t seem like a lot, especially compared to what a lot of bloggers make, but I’m doing this part-time along everything else in my life and that to me would be a big achievement. Even if I don’t make anywhere near £100, hopefully I can grow the blog in other ways, but this is the goal I’m setting myself for now.

Ads – I have considered integrating ads onto my blog, but after doing some research, I have decided to wait until I have more traffic first and perhaps in half a year or so I will be able to apply for more of the premium ad services. It’s important to me that the blog isn’t “spammy”, and I’d rather wait until I can have better and more relevant ads that won’t slow down my site.

Goals for February 2021

For my second month of blogging, I’m going to continue posting 1-2 times a week (usually Saturdays and sometimes Tuesdays) and I’d love to continue to increase my sessions and pageviews. My goal for February is 250 sessions and 500 pageviews!

I also want to invest in some blogging guides. I’m going to focus on SEO and Pinterest I think, so if you have any recommendations then please let me know, as I still have a lot to learn 🙂

  1. You’re at such an exciting time with your blog! I can’t wait to see where you go from here and your future month stats to see how much you grow! Your views for your first month are fantastic – well done! I started blogging about 8 years ago and I had no idea what I was doing so I think I probably had about 4 views during that first month hahaha! x

    1. I agree, it is a really exciting time! I can’t wait to see it grow too! Thank you so much for your kind comment! 🙂 x

  2. I think I have some of my earlier stats recorded in one of my bullet journals, unsure if I still have them. It is great you have seen an increase in your stats, you are clearly moving in the right direction. Good luck with your blog this month lovely!
    Lauren.

    1. Hi Lauren! Thank you very much, I’m only at the beginning of my journey but it’s certainly a start. Thank you! 🙂

  3. Yess! Ads can look spammy at times. No doubt. I think a blogger just needs to learn how to balance it (I think two per page is the best) so that it doesn’t become overwhelming to their audience.

    1. That’s a good point – 1 or 2 ads on a page is probably fine, but more than that can look messy! Thanks for commenting 🙂

  4. Congratulations on all that you have accomplished so far! I too just started my blog and I am so excited to see the stats grow (it’s so hard not to just stare at them all day haha). Thanks for being an inspiration, cannot wait to see what’s next!

    1. Haha yes – it does look like a pretty stark contrast when you compare the two! Thank you, I love reading the stats that successful bloggers post so I thought I’d share my own, even though they’re teeny tiny in comparison 🙂
